Spring Picnics

scroll

Spring has arrived along with some of the best weather you will get all year (in our opinion!)  With that in mind, it’s a great time to shake off your picnic rug and pack some delicious food to enjoy alfresco dining at your favourite outdoor space. Here’s some inspiration to help you plan the perfect spring picnic.

An ideal location is one that is not only beautiful but also offers some shade and nearby facilities.  Our tip with food is to pack things that stay fresh and delicious for the journey and throughout the grazing experience.

A good idea is to bring along a cutting-board to pile on the cheese, charcuterie (deli meats) and fresh veggies for dipping and nibbling. A mix of Snackable carrots, crisp radishes, green beans and celery are all versatile, easy finger food that stays crisp all day and require little preparation. Add a few colourful dips, a fresh baguette and you have a Spring picnic feast! This option packs well, offers something for everyone and is easy to set up once you arrive at your picnic destination.

Bringing games or planning activities will keep your guests happy and having fun on your spring picnic day. A cricket set, a football, frisbee or bocce can all provide hours of entertainment. Scavenger hunts can be a lot of fun for kids of all ages (but require a bit of preparation). Alternatively, set up your picnic within short walking distance to a playground (no preparation required).

It’s also a great idea to pack a bag of everything you might need that you can grab and go to make life easier Eg. Sunscreen, rubbish bags, utensils, plates, napkins, paper towel, corkscrew/bottle opener, insect repellent and hand sanitiser.

So get out there and enjoy!
